There are also models that can mop and charge themselves This feature could be beneficial for those with children or pets. The top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're very adept in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent vacuum Cleaner maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top 5 robot vacuum model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.

The i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households, but it also fits nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf where you can move it around like the magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It can quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as a Wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home, but not enough to reach every spot. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better move its own. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of features for automation.

The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic vacuum cleaner sale cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to understand and is user-friendly, which is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested, and this could be a problem for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you monitor your pets or children when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be washed for quick, painless cleanup.
